Don't judge us. :)

Hey. I have friends who are crazy. We spent our free time at Girls Camp filming this video, and no way am I gonna put it on facebook or youtube, so it ended up on here. Enjoy, and don't laugh too hard. :)

An epiphany.

epiphanya sudden, intuitive perception of or insight into the reality or essential meaning of something, usually initiated by some simple, homely, or commonplace occurrence or experience.
Two weeks ago I was at EFY (I had a brilliant time at that, by the way), sitting in some class, taking notes. I don't remember what the class was on, even. There I was, in my lovely little chair with the desk you pull up, when a thought just popped into my head. I have no idea where the heck it came from, really. I usually don't have totally irrelevant, thought provoking, hang-this-saying-on-your-wall thoughts randomly pop into my head, but I guess it's possible that I thought it up. But I think more likely the Spirit told me this, because I really needed to hear it at the time. You ready? Okay, here it is:

You don't have to know someone to be their friend.

Ahh! Maybe that sentence doesn't just hit you over the head and make you want to be a better human being, but it did me. I've tried to live by that rule ever since that week at efy. To me that means that even if you don't know someone, you have no idea where they're coming from, and you owe it to them to not judge when you don't know even half of their story. Even something as simple as a smile can make someone's whole day brighter. That's cliche, but really true; I've experienced it many times. How many times a day are you walking down the sidewalk, or down the hall, or anywhere, and you see someone, and study your shoes, pretend to be texting, do anything to avoid having to acknowledge their existence. How hard would it be to smile and say hi? Really? What are you afraid of? Next time you see someone, give them a compliment. It's not hard. On anything. At efy someone told me that I had really pretty eyes. My best friends have blue-green and yellow-green eyes, so I'm not on the receiving end of that compliment often, with my brownies. However, that totally brightened my whole attitude, from something as simple and seemingly meaningless as that! Just be a friend. Being a friend to someone doesn't mean hanging out at their house, or laughing till you can't breathe, or having matching necklaces. If you are a friend to someone, they know that in you they will find someone who won't judge or criticize, who will always be there to brighten their day, who just cares about them. And really, having someone who really cares about you means the world. And the thing about all of this is that IT IS NOT HARD. It is so simple, so easy, that sometimes we take these small acts of kindness for granted, and forget the true worth they hold.

Now comes the cheesy part:

Every day for the next week, do these small, easy things. You'll be surprised how simple it is, and yet how big an impact it can make on those around you and yourself.

1. Give a sincere compliment. Not just "I like your shirt.", but something real about the person, not what they have in their closet.

2. Refrain from judging. Even the most well-meaning of us judge people. All the time; it's human nature. Try to catch yourself in the act, and turn your thoughts around. Odds are, you're wrong.

3. Put someone before yourself. It is easy to be selfish. Horribly easy. Think of others.

4. Tell someone how much they mean to you. Other people can't read your mind. Tell them thanks, that you love them, etc.

5. Smile and say hi to a stranger. Sounds scary, I know. But in actuality, it's not. And it's totally worth it.

6. Listen. Again, you might say "I listen all the time!" And maybe you do. But maybe you don't.

"Wherever there is a human being, there is an opportunity for kindness." -Seneca

Ah. I just love them.

I don't know what I'd do without my dazzling friends!
They're really the best.
We help eachother be our best selves, and have extreme fun along the way.
We are glued together by our wierdness.
To be honest, I actually get ticked at them quite, quite often, but we've learned to live with eachother's annoying habits.
At Girls' Camp this week we had great, good times.
We made a music video that is intensely epic that I'll probably post on here for you to laugh about later.
I would exhort (←big word, hehe!) you to think about your friends and who you are when you're with them. You are awesome. You deserve to have awesome friends who make you feel awesome and help you be awesome.
Um, that's it I guess.

I am so blessed.

This week I've been thinking a lot.
About how lucky and loved I am.
I am so blessed.
I know that sounds cheesy but it's true.
Here's just a smattering of the things I've come up with:

Food in your fridge, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep..
-You are richer than 75% of the world.

    If you have:
Money in the bank, your wallet, and some spare change..
-You are among the top 8% of the world's wealthiest.

    If you are:
Attending college, or planning on attending college..
-You are among the top 1% educated globally.

    with more health than illness.
-You are more blessed than the million people who will not survive this week.

the danger of battle, the agony of imprisonment or torture, or the horrible pangs of starvation.
-You are luckier than 500 million people alive and suffering.

If you are reading this message:
you are more fortunate than 3 billion people in the world who cannot read at all.

    Retreat for Girls 2011:)

    So.
    I just got back from
    Retreat for Girls.
    Aaah!
It's like the best week of ever.
Um. It's kinda like an efy for 12-15 yr old girls.
If ya know what efy is.
    BUT.
    It's absolutely
    fantasmical. :)
We stayed at Utah State University, in the dorms.

These were some of my roommates:

    They're
    awesome.
    We had great fun.
It's wierd how at the end of only 5 days,
you feel like you've known these girls your whole life.

Our group was the Treasure Seekers.
    (We were the best group.)
    Our counselor was Jazzie.
    (She was the best counselor.)

If you or anyone else you know is a 12-15 yr old Mormon girl, go to this.
    It will rock your world.

    *Besties Forever*

(↓↓↓click on this to make it bigger↓↓↓)

    Rylee Rachelle Nelson.

    Mah bestie.

    Is moving. :'(
2 hrs 7 mins / 144.92 miles away, in fact.
    Sadness.
    Extreme sadness.

Rylee moved here once upon a time in 5th grade. I don't even remember that part, really. It was not until 6th grade that we became absolute bestfriends.
    She was a little lost.
    I was a little lost.
    Then we found eachother.

And almost all of our classes were together.
And we made a motorized vehicle out of a potato and some gummy vitamins.
    And life was good.

    And then 7th grade came.
    And life was good.

    And then 8th grade came.
And we magically morphed into MAJR double-NS.
    And became true beliebers.
    And harmonizers.
    And life was good.

    And now she is moving.
    Life not so good.

    But.
    We'll still see eachother sometimes.
    We'll still have memories.
    Even though she's moving,
    we'll still be bestfriends.
And I guess that's all there is to it.

    Memories build a pathway
that goes winding through the heart,
    and keep friends close together
    even when they are apart.
